voting yes we will use cbs to create a random draft order for the first round of the minor league draft. the team will have an option to spend their $100 at that time on any one player they choose. voting no means first come first serve of spending their $100 on any one player. time stamp will determine the first bid. also if this is accepted to create the random order it will be done this way EVERY year for the first round of the minor league draft.

It looks like polls don't work on the proboards mobile version. I don't see any voting buttons. I will vote later tonight.

The way that rule change is worded isn't clear. It says you have the option to spend 100 on a player. But I assume I could open the bidding for a lesser amount in they first round. I might want to nominate a player for $1? Would I have to wait until the first round is over to do that?

What I was trying to say, if we do the random generator for an order of first to last. The first person will have the priority to say they are spending $100 on player X, if they choose not to do so that is fine. We will go to team 2 see if they are spending $100 on any one. At any time the team is spending their $100 on a player that player will go to that team and come out of the pool. We will proceed this way until all 16 teams have had a chance to spend $100 on any one player. After everyone has had a chance down the line we will go back to an auction style draft where we nominate and bid on the players on the board. At the time of the auction style draft you spend your $100 on one player while bidding is going on so be it. Everyone would have had a chance to spend their $100 on that player before that.
hope this helps

Ok, I voted against, but I think I get what you are suggesting and I'm fine with it. This is ONLY about spending $100 on a player, correct?
Maybe we can avoid this is only a few people want to do this. I will state right now I have no intention of spending $100 on 1 minor league player. So you can leave me out of this. Just take a poll right now and let's find out.

I only vote yes if we do reverse order next year of this year's order. Seems like it would be the most fair to give the person who picks last this year the first pick next year.
Then, for the third year of the minors draft, randomize the order again and repeat the process.

I think in that first round you should be able to start the bidding at any amount you want it shouldn't have to be 100.

After this year, won't everyone start the minor league draft with different amounts of money (if any at all)? If by some chance there are two owners that have the same amount of money available and they both want the same guy, there should be a rule for this.
Why don't we just say that the nomination order is inverse of the prior year standings?

Ok guys I'll try to answer this. If you spend $100 this year chances are you will be starting that player next year ...you'll have $100 cap free n may choose to do the same crap next year . Sad Indians this is just to keep those teams WHO DO WANT to spend $100 on Harper ect from crying who n why they couldnt get online at 6pm est . People live all ove the place folks. Not sure if Pancake wants to get up in the middle of the night to do this LOL. Anyway , One round of those who choose to do $100 bids . Then the rest of us will nominate our players , simple . Next year we'll talk about .

Too right george - minors and the salary breaks they carry are too valuable to put all eggs in one basket for me - knock yourselves out boys and pray for no injuries!

What I was thinking is that $100 is an obvious price point for someone who really really wants one of the top prospects. But the next obvious price point would be $91, which would be the highest you could pay for a guy and still get 10 prospects total. So it would be just as much an advantage to be first on the trigger with a $91 nomination.
When does the draft start - immediately after the majors draft? That means 12 hours after the last player is taken, or I guess 12 hours and 1 minute, people can try to be quickest with those bids. That's why I thought the scheduled first round should be any amount you want to bid not necessarily 100. Can we have a second round which is a $91 round?

why would we need a second round? Either you bid/spend $91 or $100 or whatever with your first pick/nomination and you don't have any more opportunities to bid that much again.

The poll will close tonight at 11:00 pm est. It has been up for 10 days now with overwhelming results wanting to do the random order results. If you have not voted yet please do so. If results show that we are doing the random order we will do that tonight and post the order on the proboards. At that time please pm us if you are planning on spending your $100 on a single player we do not need to know the player at this time. When it comes time for the minor league draft we will have the ones spending their $100 on a player post them in a thread in order of their draft position.
