Probably something that needs to be discussed for next year's draft. This has been brought before last week, there are a number of owners on here who believe it to be their right to "wait" to nominate a minor league player whenever the moment strikes them. Apparently our league rules say nothing about owners nominating a player unless they have only one left and then you have stated, they do not need to nominate a player, rather they can bid on any player. I will use Sex Panthers as an example, only because it is in the present, nothing against Fernando or the Orioles. He has $22 of cap left and 5 minor league roster spots left. I asked him nicely to nominate a player as every owner who must have a player nominated, currently has one except him. He told me he wants to wait. He didn't say what he was waiting for, but if he waits and I have 4 slots left and I wait and if all the owners that only have 1 slot left are allowed to wait per the rules, I think we will all be staring at eachother with our thumbs up our assess. Most guys nominate a guy within minutes after their previous has been on the clock for 12 hours and is won. In fact, Matheson already brought this up on here and I do the same thing, I nominate players all the time, that I am not necessarily interested in, but I do know others like and will bid on. C'mon guys, let's wrap this up so Charleston can trade his team

We should probably have a rule that says once 12 hours (or whatever amount agreed upon) have passed from your last won player, your draft is completed.

So you are saying you believe everyone should get 12 hours to nominate another player after their previous nomination has been won?

A limit of 12 hours, yes. So under the rule, my draft would be over right now.

You could have probably just deleted that long paragraph and just went with the second paragraph/sentence and they would have got the point.

Nomination is a predicate to the right to bid on a player. If you do not want to bid on a player, you do not need to nominate. So basically, no.
I did say that I nominated Bethancourt when I had no interest in Bethancourt and only one roster slot left. My point in saying that was to let you all know how awesome I am, and how much I dislike Bethancourt. Also, it seems like a non-dick move to just keep nominating players so that we can keep things moving along and keep Eric from making irate posts in the draft chat.
Also, it is Friday!

We can address it for next year. It would be nice to have players put up on a regular basis. I think waiting by the computer the moment your nomination goes off the board is a little extreme but I know what you are asking. Just a consistent flow of players would help the draft proceed. It gets money off the board, players spots taken and it is a freshness to see new players. You have to remember there are owners from several different time zones in this league and people have jobs and lives outside this draft. We will get through this. Scott

I don't know if this has been discussed, but would it be possible to nominate multiple players if we are in the constraints of our budget and player limit? Just a thought.

or perhaps allow two bids per person once we're down to $X amount of bidding cash remaining.

I think the process works fine. We are all eager to run the waiver wire and to start trading again, so this seems like a bigger deal than it is. Nominating more than one player per team amplifies the pernicious problem, demonstrated so capably by Eric in last year's minor league draft, of a team with a lot of cash taking advantage of a team with limited resources by tying money up for 11 hours per bid, keeping them from bidding on other players and hence keeping prices down. The more players are nominated, the bigger a problem this becomes because everyone is forced to spread their remaining resources between a larger pool of actively nominated players at any given time.
I think the system we have in place is balanced and overall working just fine. I think it is courteous to try and have a player nominated with regularity to the extent that you are eligible to nominate so as to keep things moving.

It looks like we have 8 teams still bidding with a total of 26 roster slots to fill, so I cannot imagine we are not finished with the draft by Monday p.m.
Edit: Actually, it looks like we have 7 teams bidding to fill a total of 19 roster slots, with 5 of those nominated. This will be over very soon.

I disagree. I'm actually with Eric on this one as I don't think the current pace is ideal with a number of teams neglecting to nominate players. The pace has slowed unnecessarily to a crawl. You suggest the draft should be finished by Monday. Only if everyone started nominating their players. At this current pace, the draft will last another week.
Once we get to this point in the draft, interest starts to wain or people are trying to game the system. A draft needs to have a good flow for it to work well. Since I'm not suggesting we mandate that someone nominate a player if they have more than one spot open, I think it would be beneficial to speed things up towards the end of the draft. If someone has a lot of cash left at the end of the draft, then that's their problem. That usually means they've done something wrong since in just about every draft I've participated in the players go off the board generally based on their consensus ranking. No one really falls through the cracks in a draft like this unless you are just valuing the players much differently than everyone else. I know I'm not the only one with a long list of ranked minor league players (I still have about 50 players left on my list here, so I know who in my opinion has any value left).
