Ok boys, time for some smack talk. Who was the biggest steals? and who was the most overpaid for?
I got Eaton, Fowler, Guerrero as a few of my favorites for most overpaid.
I like Beltran for one of the better bargains.
What you guys think?

Ooooh, I used to love to do this, but I have learned that I can really hurt feelers out there and I am a man who loves to trade. Participating in this exercise, as much as I would love to, only negatively impacts my trading passion and hurts fragile egos! I am learing fantasy etiquette so to speak! Apparently you missed those classes But, I would agree with you on your 3 as overpays (to various degrees), although Fowler's ceiling is higher than his price. my spreadsheet had Beltran at $19-21, so I am not sure he was a bargain

I did miss that class, but I'm think I pretty good about not offending others. But perhaps not???

Just be careful, you might want that owner's players later when the deadline approaches. Burneth no bridges!

$5 for Grady Sizemore is the overpay of the draft

I think Sizemore would have been an overpay at 1.
As for Eaton I through him away at 9. Where were you guys when trading was going on?

I agree on all the overpays, but in certain parts of the draft you sometimes get stuck paying more for the guy you thought would go cheaper. Sizemore was definitely the head scratcher of the draft.
Joey Bats went fairly reasonably as well. Not saying he is worth 27, but in this league you generally have to reach more than that.

OK, I will only talk about owners already on this thread...I thought coming off his drug suspension, $52 for Braun was probably more in line with his value 3 years ago, not in 2014...that was head scratcher for me. But Lamp also got Brett Gardner for $12 which I thought was great value.

Definitely didn't want to pay $52 for Braun but I was set on getting him and think he has a killer year ahead

Joey Bats was a great value when compared to what was paid for some other comparable hitters. I thought Big Papi was a good value as well.

Every single player in this particular draft is an overpay pretty much. Eaton was a big overpay but there was nothing but garbage left in the outfield and I had some money to use. I overpaid for Choo and Holliday as well, but they best fit my team needs, which are many.
Braun and Votto were overpays. Cabrera can't afford to suffer any more injuries or he'll be an overpay as well. That's just the nature of this league. Lots of inflation.

Scutaro and Beltran are the best values on my list. Both about 9 saved $. But both are really really old so maybe I'm not factoring in age enough. I paid 26 for an ancient Papi so there might be something to that. Oh and Konerko and Berkman killed me last year.

Considering Scutaro's value last year in our league was $6 and he got him for $4 and he is 53 years old playing in the one of the worst hitter's ballparks, I'd say he you may be a tad optimistic tagging a $9 savings on him! LOL

For me (this is Greg), Bautista was a nice buy at $27 (of course, if he can stay healthy), Gallardo at $6 is a good price if he ends up half way between the terrible start and terrific end to last season. Other nice values were Griffin ($8), Hamilton ($28), Latos ($22), Lester ($16), and John Niese ($4). I was surprised Morales went for $19 as well as some of the others listed above, but a lot of the late buys are more about remaining budget that anything else. AJ and I felt confident we could get Braun at about $42...then that was the opening bid! I agree that he may have a monster year in front of him (with my home town bias, of course).
Learned some lessons in the draft, but am really enjoying the process. Can't wait to get started on the minor leaguers!

Eric how do you figure $6 value? He had .297/.356 in 488 ab. That alone is worth more than 6.

Easy, no runs, no rbis, no hr, no sb, no tb. He is two category contributor only. Not just my assessment..experts. plus, look at his 2nd half v. 1st half...yuck On August 29, 1996, the Seattle Mariners traded David Arias to the Twins for David Hollins. WHO WAS DAVID ARIAS? ?

I'm with Eric on this one. Didn't think I'd ever say that. $13 valuation for Scutaro is a little nuts

The thing I look at is the plan each team has . Adding players to CBS , then seeing what teams need and what they bid on can cause my brain to hurt. That is what makes this fun , different minds at work . We had to have Abreu , if he sucks shame on me (at $27 its scary) but if he goes nuts we are havin a party in Indiana . Its in the projections of the mind . We are all kids with hopes n dreams of the big Jimmy Rollins year in our heads . We hope that our players dont pull an Ike Davis on us . Everyone on our team will have 50 hrs !! YAY for being a kid

That was a lot to pay for an unproven talent, but he has the potential to outperform the price you paid. Power is a huge commodity, so cross your fingers and hope for the best.
